Cement rendering is the application of an on-site mixture of sand, cement, lime or clay. Once the mixture is applied to the walls, it is then screeded flat, before being finished with a float and then sponged off to bring a fine aggregate to the top, giving it a nice smooth flat texture.
This material needs 28 days curing time before being able to paint over.
This is the most commonly used type of rendering finish used today. The process is much like the sand and cement finish except the material used is a pre-blended formula of thoroughly washed sand and cement that comes in bags. This mixture has added polymers included, which give the product superior adhesive properties, meaning it will stick much easier to a wider variety of substrates. These polymers also helps to prevent cracking, as opposed to on site mixed sand and cement.
Another great benefit of this type of render is the short 48hr curing time, meaning you can paint quicker, while also saving time and costs on scaffolding as well.
Acrylic Render is a thin top coat that can be used over the top of a variety of substrates, it includes an acrylic plastic additive that makes the coating flexible, preventing cracking.
This type of render comes in a wide variety of finishes that can also be tinted to whichever colour you desire, with no need to over paint.
